Head Start, Early Head Start and ECEAP programs are designed to assist low income families in raising healthy children in preparing children for future academic success and in becoming more self-sufficient.
Head Start
Heart Start is a federally funded preschool program that serves income eligible children age 3-5 years. Local programs consist of part day services.
Early Head Start
Early Head Start is a federally funded program that serves pregnant women, infants and toddlers. It promotes healthy pre-natal care and healthy attachments and development for children form the earliest stages.
Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP)
ECEAP is a state funded preschool program that serves income eligible children age 3-5 years. Local programs are part day only.
Part Day Classes
Part day preschool classes are 3 1/2 hours a day, three or four days a week and run September through May/June. Part day classes are free to income eligible families. Children must be three before September 1st.
Home Base Early Head Start
The Home Base option provides eligible families with home visits and support services from the prenatal months to the child’s third birthday. Home Base operates all year long.
Who Qualifies for the Program?
Head Start/Early Head Start/ECEAP serves families whose income is at or below the Federal/State Poverty Guidelines. Foster children, children with special needs or who are at-risk are actively sough for enrollment. Applications are accepted throughout the year.
