President Summer Clemenson called the meeting to order at 7:08PM. Summer called on Karen to give a little history about Living Ministries and the power group.  Karen showcased some of the power groups strong points. Summer Clemenson’s ability to engineer a power group of people who enjoy walking beside others to administer hope. Linda Harrstad’s wealth of knowledge, John Hanna’s ability to complete a task from start to finish and John Coleman’s attention to detail. What a great group of people!

Karinsa Viramontes from Dino Doozer Foundation gave a nice presentation about their upcoming event on March 10th. They are having a masquerade ball at the Cowlitz County Expo Center in Longview.  This is a fundraiser for Dino Doozer Foundation. The tickets are $40.00 per person. Elton John impersonator, Craig Meyer will perform throughout this magical night. Dino Doozer Foundation was started after Karinsa’s son, Sherod, passed away from a rare cancer associated with a disease called NF, which stands for Neuro-Fibro Metosis. This disease attacks cellular division and makes its victims more susceptible to rare cancers.  There is a very special camp that children with NF can attend in Virginia. Sherod was able to attend this camp and he truly enjoyed himself!

Sherod wanted other kids suffering with NF to enjoy this camp, so after his death, Karinsa decided to take some his insurance premium to help kids get to camp. It cost $3000.00 to send a special kid to camp.  This fund raiser will help to send more kids to camp.

Living Ministries is very proud to walk beside Karinsa and The Dino Doozer Foundation for another fundraiser on March 17, 2012 called The St. Patty’s Day Fling. This goal of this great event is to send one child with NF to camp and raise money for Living Ministries.  The event will offer fun for family members to enjoy St. Patty’s day without alcohol. The fun starts at 1:00 pm and will end with an Irish jam session at about 9pm or when the leprechauns can’t dance anymore! Bring the family and help us celebrate a little Irish History at the AWPPW Hall!  Be sure to get your tickets for the dinner and and pet parade at stpattysdayfling.com!

Lynn Brown of Hearts for Homeless gave a us a slide show presentation about what their organization does.  They have a mobile ministry that provides homeless people with clothing, food, and good conversation. They try to offer hope to people who might have lost a great deal of hope due the challenges of life. Living Ministries will add them to our constantly growing  resource center at www.livingministries.org Their slide show shows their willingness to respect and administer hope to our homeless population.

John Coleman would like to help Living Ministries develop some effective fund raisers.  A conversation about manning a booth at the annual Go-Forth celebration ensued and further information will be garnered and then considered at the next Living Ministries Power Meeting.

Linda Haarstad suggested that we have a tea as a fund raiser. She will research the idea and get back to the power group.  The group is very excited about fund raising!  We’re currently working on The 2nd Annual Christmas Angel Telethon and of course our St. Patty’s Day Fling!

The power meeting was adjourned by President, Summer Clemenson at 8:36pm.

The next Living Ministries Power meeting will be a closed meeting on Wednesday, February 24, 2012

Respectfully Submitted,
Karen Gidderon
