Date: July 11, 2011
Location: The Electric Bean, 946 Washington Way, Longview, WA 98632
Subject: Living Ministries Power Group Meeting
Attendance: Elizabeth Evans, Linda Haarstad, Summer Clemenson, Karen Gidderon
The meeting was called to order by President Summer Clemenson at 7:20pm. Living Ministries coupled with Attic Ministries at the Go Forth Celebration. They shared a booth and Living Ministries made $125.00
Living Ministries and Attic Ministries will discontinue serving on each other’s committees. The reason for the separation is simply a change of future goals. Living Ministries wishes only the best for Attic Ministries.
Linda Haarstad interjected a great idea for next year’s Go Forth Celebration. After helping to man the booth this year, she found that many people had various needs while attending the celebration. Having a hospitality area at the celebration would help many people with babies and other needs.
Other ideas for how to help people:
- Volunteer Dollars – given to people who volunteer. Dollars can be traded for needed items.
- Community Rummage Sale/Boot Sale – Vendors to pay an amount to be there and keep all proceeds. Amount vendors pay would go to a chosen non-profit, such as Community House. We are considering this for next year.
Living Ministries will be the featured non-profit on July 27th at the Cowlitz Black Bears game! Tickets are still available for $7.00 at 360.431.1442. Living Ministries will have a booth at The Bark For Life Event on Saturday, July 16th at the Cowlitz County Expo Center. The team is looking for an inexpensive table to use at the event. We voted to use funds from Living Ministries to purchase a table. Linda has generously donated a pop up tent.
While at the Bark For Life Event Living Ministries will accept pet food donations that will go to CAP for their Meals on Wheels Program. We will ask Pet Works if they would like to donate some food. Living Ministries voted to spend $50.00 on pet food to be donated to CAP’s Meals on Wheels program.
Exclaim Media donated design services totaling $150.00 to create a banner for Living Ministries. ProGraphyx will take the art work and produce the banner. They have agreed to take payments for their work.
Summer has revamped the living ministries.org web site with a resources page for local non-profits to be listed. Linda suggested we add Angel Closet to the site. They provide prom gowns to young ladies that wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford them. Elizabeth suggested we add Catholic Services and Dr. Terry Tack to the list. Summer is working on more information on The Shriners and the Cowlitz Weekly Clinic.
President Summer Clemenson closed the meeting at 7:57PM.
Next Meeting: August 08, 2011 at the Electric Bean at 7:00PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
Karen Gidderon
