Christmas Angel Telethon 2013
Christmas Angel Telethon is a third party fundraiser that Living Ministries and the community facilitates to benefit The Salvation Army Longview-Kelso Temple Corps‘ Christmas Angel Community Center. The Salvation Army is not required to play any part in this event. Any marketing, soliciting or planning is the responsibility of Living Ministries.
Money donated via the website is through Living Ministries Online Red Kettle. Living Ministries does not have access to these funds. That program is through The Salvation Army and funds donated at the website will be sent to the Corps nearest the donor. It is the responsibility of The Salvation Army to send a receipt and distribute funds though the Online Red Kettle Program. There is a note on the website at www.ChristmasAngelTelethon.com, beneath the Online Red Kettle button, to donors that may not live in the area communicating that if they would like to donate to The Salvation Army Longview Kelso Temple Corps they will need to mail their check to the Corps along with the mailing address.
Any checks, cash or change, silent auction items, raffle items & services donated to the event that are collected by Living Ministries in person will be given a receipt from The Salvation Army and those monies and main copies of the receipt will be given directly to The Salvation Army Longview Kelso Temple Corps’ office manager Bobbie Costa. Checks donated via receptacles owned by Living Ministries or through any other fundraising efforts by Living Ministries will be included in donations made directly to The Salvation Army Longview Kelso Temple Corps.
All payments from sponsors will be made to Living Ministries to use for marketing purposes and event costs. Money placed in receptacles owned by Living Ministries or gained through fundraising efforts by Living Ministries that are not in a check format will be deposited along with sponsorship dollars into the Christmas Angel Telethon savings account that Living Ministries has at Fibre Federal Credit Union. This money will be used to pay event expenses. 90% of remaining sponsorship dollars or any funds collected or raised through receptacles owned by Living Ministries or through other fundraising efforts, after event costs have been covered, will be donated to The Salvation Army Longview Kelso Temple Corps by December 31, 2013. 10% of remaining dollars will be left in that account for future Christmas Angel Telethons. In the event that we end this fundraiser, those dollars will be used to fund other community events or fundraisers for organizations who offer similar services.
Living Ministries is completely volunteer run. No one takes a paycheck from Living Ministries. None of the money collected from Christmas Angel Telethon will go to pay any one person for services provided to or for Living Ministries that is not a payment for services toward this event or a similar community event or fundraiser for an organization offering similar services.
Living Ministries will organize the organizations, businesses and citizens that want to be part of this event. We will collect donations for The Salvation Army to be given to the The Salvation Army. We will be responsible for the event and its marketing and execution.
Debra asked that we provide a list of things that must be done before the event so we can be better prepared and organized than passed Christmas Angel Telethons. Summer will have an organized list of all things that need to be done as well as what has already been done and any new contracts created at our next planning meeting.
Monday September 9, 2013 will be our next CAT Planning Meeting. Will meet at Longview Eagle’s Nest at 6 pm.
We are pretty sure the telethon will be at The Electric Bean this year. If that is the case we want to negotiate with Vernie’s, Fibre Federal Credit Union and Muchas Gracias and other local businesses to be whatever part of this event they want to be.
Karen and Linda will be responsible for negotiating any sponsorships.
Summer and Karen will work out the opportunities and ways to be recognized for becoming a sponsor to be presented for acceptance by our Board of Directors via email.
We will also need to negotiate radio ad space and newspaper advertisements. We do not have any marketing dollars at this time.
Pet LOVE Drive Update
We have collected: 100 lbs of kitty litter, 425 lbs of dog food (80 lbs went to CAP, 8 lbs went to Love Overwhelming the remainder when to Angel Wings Rescue), 104 lbs of cat food (8 lbs went to LO the rest went to AWR), $60 has come in online donations (Linda gave another $40 in cash at the meeting). We have not counted the money jars yet. 90% of cash will be sent as a payment for Angel Wings Rescue’s vet bill at Columbia Veterinary Hospital. 10% will go into the Angel Wings Rescue savings account Living Ministries holds at Fibre Federal Credit Union to be used toward the annual, Furry Fundraiser Tea, that Living Ministries facilitates for Angel Wings Rescue.
Morale/PR
Summer will be communicating a topic monthly to help people know what Living Ministries does. Most topics will come directly from questions asked either by committee members or people contacting us outside of the group.
Affiliate Ministries
Hearts For Homeless was not present.
Summer reminded the group that Living Ministries will host our first Survival Drive in October.
All donations will go to Hearts For Homeless; what they have an abundance of will go to Love Overwhelming. 90% of money donated online or in receptacles owned by Living Ministries or through other fundraising efforts connected to the Survival Drive will go to purchase items that we don’t receive enough of. 10% of dollars will go into the savings account for Hearts For Homeless that Living Ministries keeps at Fibre Federal Credit Union to be used toward the annual event Living Ministries facilitates for Hearts For Homeless – The Bag Party.
Angel Wings Rescue
Debra has decided that she will do a small event on Feral Cat day at Angel Wings Rescue. It will be smaller than she had originally thought because she doesn’t want to take away from efforts for the Survival Drive.
Debra is so excited about the help she has received during the Pet LOVE Drive, and the people she has met when they have made deliveries to Angel Wings Rescue.
Debra reminded us that animal have sensitive systems and it is very hard on them to change their food all the time. They need consistent kinds of food for optimum health.
Summer asked that we write an article about that for the website. We can use it to educate to people who want to help, know why we ask for particular brands or ask for only financial donations so the right food can be purchased by Debra. She and Debra will work on that soon.
Meeting adjourned around 7:25 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Summer D Clemenson
Executive Director
Excellent and very well written. Thank you Summer for all the time and effort you put into great explanations of what we do and how it is to be distributed. Debra
