The meeting was called to order at 5:59PM by Karen Gidderon
Contract Negotiations
Summer put together a large online database that has 140 organizations listed that help people. Summer and Karen will be meeting with Dawn who is affiliated with the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments for a paid contract with them in two weeks. With the proceeds from this opportunity we will be able to begin our trech toward becoming 501(c)3. We will be needing volunteers to make phone calls to each of the organizations and gather information in order to meet the criteria of what the buyer wants.
Executive Officers
Summer Clemenson retained her titles of Executive Director and Treasure, but stepped down from the President position.
Summer nominated Karen Gidderon as President with a second from Public Relations Specialist, Jamie Holloway. After Karen agreed to fill the position Karen Gidderon was elected President by the Executive Officers, with the support of the Board of Directors.
After Summer announced that following conversations with all members of the Board of Directors she felt there were no members of the Board of Directors that would be the best fit for the responsibilities of Vice President. After that announcement she opened conversation to the Board for advice. John Hanna suggested that Linda Haarstad be nominated for Vice President. Following discussion and the agreement that Linda felt she could fill the position, Linda Harstaad was elected Vice President by the Executive Officers in agreement with and advise of the Board of Directors.
Summer nominated Jamie Holloway for secretary. This nomination was seconded by Karen Gidderon. Following her acceptance of the nomination, Jamie Holloway was elected Secretary by the Executive Officers with the support of the Board of Directors.
Summer offered that she would entertain a motion that the Public Relations Specialists position that was created last year, because Jamie was not ready to fill the Secretary position be dissolved. Summer felt that the position was no longer necessary because Jamie had already begun filling all responsibilities of Secretary.
John Hanna made a motion that the position of Public Relations Specialist be dissolved but maintain our ability to reinstate it, when and if necessary in the future. This motion was seconded by Karen Gidderon. It was agreed that we would dissolve this position and would be free to reinstate it, if necessary at a later time.
Bylaw Revision
Summer offered that she would entertain a motion to revise the Bylaws to remove the Public Relations Specialist position from recognized Executive Officers. The motion was made by Linda Haarstad to revise the Bylaws accordingly. Debra Lawson-Bean seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
St Patty’s Day Fling
In a meeting of the Marketing Committee it was agreed that we did not have the man-power to plan and execute St Patty’s Day Fling 2013. It was suggested that we use St Patty’s Day Fling as a private party for all committee members, volunteers and interested parties. March 17th, 2013 at 6 PM there will be a potluck dinner for all Living Ministries board members and volunteers to celebrate St. Patty’s day. The location will be at Heron Point Clubhouse, near Linda’s home. Linda will provide the meat, Debra will bring the cornbread, Summer the dessert, and Jamie the cabbage.
Furry Fundraiser Tea Party
Living Ministries is facilitating a fundraiser for Angel Wings Rescue on Saturday February 23, 2013 at Myrtle’s Teahouse in Ridgefield, Washington.
Living Ministries Spring Tea Fundraiser
April 21, 2013 is the Living Ministries Spring Tea Fundraiser, facilitated by Linda Haarstad to benefit Living Ministries, will be at Heron Pointe Clubhouse. Connie Wallace will be playing the violin. The cost is $20 for a ticket or 2 for $35. There will be a soup course, a savory course, a fruit course, a salad course, and a dessert course.
