To: All Interested Parties
From: Living Ministries Board of Directors
Date: January 15, 2014
Location: Life Works, 906 New York Street, Longview, WA 98632
Attendance: Karen Gidderon, Summer D Clemenson, Debra Lawson-Bean & Linda Haarstad
Summer is taking notes in Jamie’s place.
The meeting was called to order by President, Karen Gidderon at 6:29 pm.
Helping The Helpers Benefit Concert
Originally named The Bag Party. We changed the name because the owner of Cassava brought it to our attention that the name didn’t really tell what the event was about. He also asked that we only collect money at this event. He felt that because camping is illegal in Longview, we are helping people break the law if we give away sleeping bags. We understand his logic and will only accept dollars.
There is no objection to us doing a drive on the side. Living Ministries has bought 12 new backpacks to be split between Hearts For Homeless and Love Overwhelming.
Handbills and flyers are done – Thank you to Exclaim Media for giving us a good price for graphic design services.
Debra helped make a list of places to put up flyers. She volunteered to distribute them for us. Thank you!!!
Karen and Summer are hunting down raffle items and silent auction items.
Project Homeless Connect
Rochelle asked for pet food, leashes, collars, food bowls.
Summer and Karen will get in touch with The Dog Zone and The Pet Works to see if they can help with pens, food and the above items.
Karen, Summer, Linda and Debra a signed up as volunteers. Lynn is a vendor (Hearts For Homeless)
Living Ministries Events
Karen asked that Summer create a flyer with all our annual events on it to make it easier to approach people as sponsors and donors. As part 1 of that project Summer added a new page to the website with a list of all our annual events and let the individual pages we already had on the site for each event be a drop down menu from that.
Everyone is asked to look at the Annual Community Events & Fundraisers page, located in the drop down menu beneath Being Living Ministries.
Revival
Celebrate Recovery through Church of the Nazerene in Longview had a revival last July and they invited Karen and Summer to one of their planning meetings. The event is now sponsored by the church. They are calling it Project 90K Outreach. It will be July 18-20.
After the meeting Karen and Summer are not sure what they want us to do. Please be in prayer about our role. We will have more information at our next meeting.
Furry Fundraiser Tea Party
This annual event to benefit Angel Wings Rescue will be Saturday February 22nd at Myrtle’s Teahouse in Ridgefield. Tickets are $25 each.
Exclaim Media has already designed flyers and tickets and will only charge us their discounted price for the flyers. They will accept payment after the event.
Ladies Spring Tea
We are not sure we are going to do this tea. It is a lot of work and expense and was meant to be a third party fundraiser, but turned into something the committee has had to do. We would prefer to buy tickets and be guests.
It was suggested that we check out The Porcelain Rose Teahouse in Longview or look into another venue that would be willing to host and we just sell tickets. We will talk about the options more at our next meeting.
Financials
Exclaim Media is now charging for services. They give us deep discounts. This month we paid for hosting for Hearts For Homeless and also to renew ChristmasAngelTelethon.com for one more year since we have history with this domain. Because of this we will be running lean for the next few months.
Christmas JOY Telethon
We had a great time signing thank you notes to be sent out next week. Andrew at The Electric Bean wants to meet at the end of January to talk about details from this year and possibly set a date for next year.
