Summer is taking notes in Jamie’s place.
The meeting was called to order by President, Karen Gidderon at 6:24 pm.
Old Business
Linda Haarstad has resigned from Living Ministries. We are now seeking a Vice President.
We have decided to not take part in Go Fourth Festival as we do not feel we have enough people to man a booth.
New Business
The Beermans would like to find a time once per month to come and volunteer at Angel Wings Rescue! Info will be handed over to Debra Lawson-Bean at a later time. She is home sick tonight.
Bylaws
Our bylaws need a facelift. Summer and Jamie did not make time to do this when they agreed to do it several months ago. They will proceed with working on changes soon and hope to have them finished by the end of July.
Issues to address: Update mission statement, Develop Behavior Unbecoming of a Committee Member, Tighten phrasing throughout document.
We encourage everyone to read the bylaws found at: https://www.livingministries.org/about/bylaws/ and give feedback via email to summer@livingministries.org.
Storage Unit Change
Linda was paying for our storage unit monthly as a donation. She has stopped doing that and Living Ministries has paid for June. Board will be notified of update when a change has been decided upon.
Marketing and Signage
Jacob got his new business cards and he loves them!
Exclaim Media Video & Marketing is working on new banners for Angel Wings Rescue, Living Ministries and Canz 4 Toyz. They will update the smaller signs for Angel Wings Rescue and Canz 4 Toyz since their information has change since Christmas when the others were made.
We will give the files to Prographyx to print the banners and Copies Today will handle the smaller ones.
- Angel Wings Rescue will need their new banner for their Angel Wings Rescue Sweet Fundraiser Meet and Greet on June 28th.
- Living Ministries will need their new banner for Cowlitz Black Bears game on July 12th when they are the featured nonprofit; the smaller signs will be used for AWR and C4T and Hearts For Homeless at this event.
- Canz 4 Toyz will need their banner for the Terry/Taylor Annual Garage Sale in August.
Affiliate Reports
Debra was not present to speak. Summer told everyone about the Angel Wings Rescue Sweet Fundraiser Meet and Greet on June 28, 2014 from 1 to 3 pm at Thyme Square Bistro in Cathlamet. Also asked for prayer for healing for Debra as well as new donors and volunteers.
HFH has been going a little slower due to personal, family and health issues, however they are still going out when they can.
Lynn has been cleaning the storage unit and moving items into her garage for ease of use.
A painting party needs to be planned soon. Let will let us know a date and time when she knows so people can help.
Lynn requested a backup number for when she is taking too many calls. Summer told her to give out Living Ministries number (360-610-7778) and she or Karen will take calls.
Summer also gave her Kim Lopez from PATH’s number to help with a specific issue. Love Overwhelming was also referred to anyone ready to seek housing, health insurance and case management since they are handling coordinated entry in Cowlitz County.
Lynn has too many clothes. It was suggested to take extras to God’s Closet, since they are functioning now.
Needs:
- Hygiene items
- Socks
- Sleeping Bags
- Big Garbage Bags
- Tarps
- Backpacks
Lynn is meeting a lot of families with children on the street. Also lots of new people. She is not comfortable referring to Community House at this time. We are praying for housing for Hearts For Homeless and funds for a vehicle residency program for Living Ministries.
Lynn is getting a lot of calls for help with prescriptions. Summer suggested sending people to FISH or The Salvation Army. Jamie is going to send some resources online that she knows of.
Jacob said they have made two trips to Vader for scrap metal. Nappa is saving all their cans and scrap metal for C4T.
Three Rivers Christian School will allow C4T to have space in their parking lot during the Terry/Taylor Annual Garage Sale to give out flyers and sell water. This will take place the 2nd week of August.
