Attendance: Summer Clemenson, Linda Harrstad, Debra Lawson, Dale Chamberlain and Karen Gidderon.
The meeting was called to order by President Summer Clemenson at 6:15pm. We conducted our Happy Bucks. We have lots of things to be happy about!
Summer offered us a powerful invocation. I gave a brief review of the event, Cruise for the Cure. This was fundraiser for cancer research in Cowlitz County. The event was a car show with 350 cars! Living Ministries had a booth and gave several cases of water away to thirsty Cruise for the Cure patrons. Special thanks to Linda Haarstad, volunteer Adam Haarstad, Tom Stebbins, John Hanna, and Summer Clemenson. Good Job!
We are preparing to launch our 2nd annual Christmas Angel Telethon! On December 8th and 9th we will have a super fundraiser for The Salvation Army! This is a fun-loving, family oriented event with 24 hours of entertainers and interviews from local business leaders! For a meaningful donation you can come and tell everyone about the cool stuff your organization or business has to offer. Check out the cool website Summer created at www.cowlitzchristmasangel Our next planning meeting for The Christmas Angel Telethon is Wednesday, October 10th at 6pm at LIfeworks 906 New York Street, Longview.
We will purchase 5000 business cards to leave with several businesses and give to bell ringers to hand out. Committee members will be placing several calls to friends, businesses owners, area fellow non-profits and others to ask for help with the telethon. Tom and Karen will begin the business canvassing process the week of Oct. 01.
Tom will lead us in our endeavor to have a float in the Longview Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 01, 2012! Carl’s Towing will allow us to borrow one of their cool flatbed trucks. Linda will assist Tom with decorating the truck!
Summer has updated the By-Laws! The following sections were changed: under the Board of Directors heading, we changed section #2 The role of the Board of Directors is to serve as advisors to the Executive Officers. Decisions made by the Board of Directors are subject to the final decision of the Executive Officers. Under the meetings section #5 has been changed as follows: Board of Directors Members are expected to contact the Executive Director or President if the Executive Director position is not filled in the event that they are unable to attend monthly meetings. Board Members are expected to be at all meeting and should miss no more than 4 meetings per year, except in the event of uncontrollable circumstances.
It was motioned and voted on and approved that we accept these changes to the By-Laws.
Linda will chair the Spring Tea for Living MInistries on Sunday, April 21, 2013! The tea will be held at Heron Point Manufactured Home Park at 50th Avenue and Ocean Beach High Way. This a fund raiser for Living Ministries. In October of 2013 there will also be a Harvest Tea to benefit Living Ministries.
On October 20, 2012 there will be a Garage Sale at our local Salvation Army located at 1639 10th Avenue. We will be upstairs in the dining room inside the Salvation Army 9am-4pm. Donations will be accepted from 2pm-6pm on Friday October 19, 2012.
