Since Love Overwhelming has been open at their new location, I have seen many posts on Facebook that have left me feeling sad. I was expecting frustrated residents, living in the vicinity of LO, that are currently having to be more forgiving while the kinks are worked out during this major growth spurt in Love Overwhelming’s program. What I was the most surprised by, were Christians who seemed to have a lot to judge and compare.
As I processed my thoughts I have to admit that I felt very convicted that I had done the same thing, just not out loud, and online. When I was done talking to God about what I had read and what I felt, I understood something new. (Right here is where I can praise God for finding glory in EVERYTHING)
So here is my message: Jesus said: If you love me, feed my sheep. John 21:15-17
He didn’t say feed only the healthy, well-adjusted and physically, mentally, financially and spiritually sound sheep. He said to feed those in need.
We all have opportunities we were created for. That is why there are so many different ministries and causes; we are all different and have different needs…and different causes to support. If we all supported only one ministry or cause then what would happen to the rest?
Let me encourage you, who help. If your heart is to support Community House on Broadway, then you should. If you heart is drawn to Hearts For Homeless, Love Overwhelming, Emergency Support Shelter, DAPC, 4 The Long View or any other organization that serves people or animals in Cowlitz County, than that is where you should give, with all your heart, and not feel convicted that someone else isn’t called in the same way you are. In reality not any one of these organizations can help meet all the need in Cowlitz County and I know that all their Executive Directors know that too. In fact, I know there are many times these organizations are working together, sharing resources because that is what they do. All the shelters in our area give all they have, all the time.
I would like to say thank you to all the supporters of 4 The Long View, Community House on Broadway, DAPC, Emergency Support Shelter, Hearts For Homeless and Love Overwhelming. I would also like to thank each of these organizations for helping people.
Living Ministries will continue to pray for people in Cowlitz County, and sharing information about other organizations that help people and animals in our area.
Be Blessed,
Summer D Clemenson
Living Ministries Executive Director
