St. James Family Center offers many services that help and encourage families:
Family Support Services
Family support and parent education are the main focus of this program. Our FSS advocates visit families with children ages newborn-5 years to provide support and child guidance for families throughout our County.
Family Violence Victims Advocacy
Working in conjunction with the County Sheriff’s Department and the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, trained volunteers are available for information and support for victims of family violence.
Charlotte House Family Violence Shelter
The Charlotte House provides 24 hour shelter and/or services for women and children who are victims of family violence. These confidential services include legal advocacy, medical and social services, referrals and counseling.
Community Sexual Assault Program
Victims of sexual assault are provided confidential services including crisis intervention, legal and medical advocacy, information and referral.
Parents as Teachers
PAT is a new program made possible by grant funds. PAT helps strengthen family relationships through parent support groups and home visits.
Preschool
This program provides preschool education for 3 and 4 year olds. Fees are paid by parents, community sponsorships, Wahkiakum County, United Way and support from the Diocese of Olympia.
Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP)
This is Washington State’s version of Head Start. It is a comprehensive preschool and social service program for income qualifying 3 and 4 year olds.
Child Care: 2 .5 – 4 .5 years old
We are the only licensed child care center in Wahkiakum County. Our doors open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 6:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Kindercare: 4.5 – 6 years old and School Age Care: 6 – 12 years old
These programs provide before and after school, holiday and summer care. Transportation is provided to and from Kindergarten.
Infant and Toddler Care: 1 month – 2.5 years
(Not currently offered) This program serves infants and toddlers and is on a contracted, set fee, month to month agreement, offered on a half month or full month basis.
Adult to Youth Mentoring
Wahkiakum Community Network contracts with SJFC to match up to 20 adults with 20 k-5th graders.
